Mark Richard Orpen

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Mark Richard Orpen. 

He passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at his home in Marble, MN.  He was born April 29, 1961 in Aurora, MN. the son of Richard Orpin and Sandra Hagen.  He graduated from Mound High School, attended Vo-Tech and joined the U.S. Navy.  Mark was united in marriage to Cynthia Elling on January 17, 1985 in Sisseton, South Dakota.  He was a carpenter and Machinist and loved to work with his hands.  He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and agate picking.  Mark was a son, brother and father but his greatest joy was being a grandpa to his 3 and soon to be 4 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son Chase, granddaughter Brielle and his brother Michael “Yogi”.

Mark is survived by his 3 Children: Chris (Jennifer), Shane and Stephanie (Albert);

Grandchildren: Chloe, Kyson and Aria;  Brothers: Bryan, Aaron and Matt;  Sister Lisa;

And many other special relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

Funeral service will be 1pm – Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Bennettville Cemetery.  www.srtfuneral.com
