Mark Cashen Zasmeta, 64, of Aitkin, passed away due to an accident at his home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. He was born June 8, 1960 in Aitkin to Robert and Illona Zasmeta. Mark went to Aitkin Schools, where he was a wrestler and a friend to many. He graduated in 1978. Mark then graduated from the Minnesota School of Business in 1980 with a degree in Accounting and Computer Programming. Mark was united in marriage to Linda Forsberg on July 9, 1982 in St. James Catholic Church, Aitkin. Together they raised two boys, Thomas and Peter, who were the pride and joy of his life. Mark worked many different jobs over the course of his life believing that hard work was the key to a successful life.
Mark is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda; sons, Thomas and Peter; siblings, Kevin (Andrea) Zasmeta, Gretchen (Tim) Catlin, Leslie (Luke) Spalj, Kari (Patrick) Sumpmann and Pamela Macia; father and mother-in-law, Gordie and Carol Forsberg; nieces and nephews, Matt, Chris, Amanda, Erin, Sam, Dan, Megan, Joe, Natalie, Zach, Kalina, Anna, Emily, Anne Marie, Amanda and Alberto; cousins and special friends.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lonnie; grandparents; Godson, Luke Weitnauer; brother-in-law, Alberto Macia.
Mark loved to work, hunt, fish and spend time with his children. A man of few words with a kind heart. To honor Mark, take a walk in the woods, spend time at the lake, view the sunset and enjoy the beauty of what Mark called God’s Country.
