Martha (“Marty”) Mae Ryan, 73, of McGregor, Minnesota, passed away August 30, 2026, surrounded by family. Marty was born April 28, 1953, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to Roy and Nola Skaggs. She married James "Jim" Ryan on August 14, 1976 in Minneapolis, and the two recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together. After graduating high school, Marty worked as a dental assistant, then spent several years raising her two kids. She returned to the workforce in a variety of administrative and managerial roles, and for over 20 years, she was a cheerful, friendly presence in the McGregor community as she staffed the McGregor Credit Union and taught Silver Sneakers fitness classes.
Never one to turn down a party, Marty loved being around people. She adored spending time with her four grandchildren, her friends, and hosting guests and family in her home. She also enjoyed tending to her garden and relaxing on long boat rides around Big Sandy Lake. Marty was always quick to smile and laugh, exuding a bubbly warmth and energy that was contagious. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Martha is survived by her husband, Jim Ryan; her son, Tom Ryan; her daughter, Melissa Wikner; her grandchildren, Asher, Ainsley, Jameson, and Gigi; and her siblings, Judy Greene, Sandy Newsome, and Gary Skaggs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Nola Skaggs, and her siblings, Diane, Larry, Aloma, Linda, Sharon, and Buddy.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 19th, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Minnewawa Sportsmen's Club, 20322 Goshawk Street, McGregor, MN 55760. McGregor Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. www.srtfuneral.com
