Marvin John Borgman

Marvin John Borgman, 91, of Aitkin, passed away, Sunday, August 18, 2019 in Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis. 

He was born August 11, 1928 in Aitkin to Carl and Dora (Kutcher) Borgman.  He grew up in the Cedar Lake/Palisade area.  Marvin was united in marriage to Donna Landrus on January 3, 1948 in St. John’s Lutheran Church of Aitkin.  They enjoyed 68 years of marriage in which they had 7 children while living in Aitkin and the Iron Range where Marvin worked as a Shovel Runner for Hanna Mining Company for 38 years.  Marvin also worked for Aitkin Co-op Feed Store, Bob Janzen Auctions as well as the Box Factory and Hatchery.  In their retirement Marvin and Donna purchased an RV.  They traveled in the winter for many years to Laughlin, Nevada where they met many new friends.  When they no longer went south, they bought some land near Effie where they spent time with family and friends enjoying the outdoors.  Marvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, cooking, picking wild berries, camping, gardening and time spent with family and friends.

Marvin is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Borgman; his parents; daughters, Debbie and Dianne; brothers, Melvin, Hilmer and Willmar; sisters, Donna Crump, Helen Torgerson, Marlys Dragovich and Adeline Borgman.

Marvin is survived by his children, Sandra (Bob Scholl) Borgman, Larry Borgman, Gary (Rajean) Borgman,   Beverly Borgmann, Terry (Patti) Borgman; 13 Grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter on the way; 2 brothers, Emery (Ruth) Borgman and Emerson (Yvonne) Borgman.

Services will be Wednesday, August 21 at 1 PM in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Aitkin with Reverend David Becker officiating.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.  To sign the guestbook online, go to: www.srtfuneral.com.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Aitkin.
