Meryl Anderson Obituary

Meryl Elsie Nell Anderson, 88 of Aitkin & formerly of Mora, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Rivers Edge Assisted Living in Aitkin.  She was born June 13, 1935 in Springville Township, Isanti County, MN. to Thornton and Mildred (Ottinger) McCarty.  She grew up in Isanti County and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1952.  Meryl was united in marriage to Wayne Henry Anderson on August 14, 1964 in Wayzata.  She enjoyed bowling and playing bingo and most recently worked at the Sportsman’s Café in Mora prior to retirement.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne in 1984, infant daughter Rena, Siblings: Laverne “Mac” Carrington, Dean Carrington, James McCarty Lynn McCarty, Rex Ottinger and her infant sister Tessie.

Meryl is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Wayne (Gabrea) Anderson of Aitkin; Grandchildren: Robert (Kayla) Anderson of Aitkin, Ryan (Nicole) Anderson of Aitkin, Emma Anderson and her Fiancé Alex Olson of Pine City;

Great-grandchildren: Ava and Addisyn;

Siblings: Dixie Stuckman of Coon Rapids, Sandra (William) Boese of Cambridge,

Ned (Lela) McCarty of Coon Rapids and Verl McCarty of Cohasset;

Sister-in-law: Joanne McCarty of Coon Rapids; And many other special relatives and friends who mourn her passing.

Graveside service will be 11:00am – Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.  Visitation will be 5 – 7pm Friday, March 8, 2024 at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
