Michael Robert Tetrault, age 66, of Tamarack, passed away Friday, August 21, 2026, leaving behind a large family and many people whose lives were touched by him. Michael was born on January 24, 1960, in Moorhead, Minnesota, to Elwood Tetrault and Ellen (Malone) Tetrault. He grew up as part of a large family, something that remained an important part of his life throughout the years. He graduated from Red River High School in Grand Forks, ND in 1978. Michael was of the Christian faith, and his faith was a part of the foundation of his life.
Michael built a long career in pest control. He owned and operated his own business, Tamarack Pest Control, and also spent many years working for Plunkett’s Pest Control and Lystads. His work reflected the same hands-on nature that followed him throughout his life.
Outside of work, Michael had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and many other outdoor activities. Michael was also a natural handyman and was rarely afraid to take on a project. Whether it was fixing something, building something, or helping someone work through an ongoing project, he was always willing to lend a hand. Family and friends knew they could often count on Michael to show up with his tools, his experience, and a willingness to help however he could.
Michael was the father of Chris Tetrault and Josh Tetrault, and father-in-law to Laura Tetrault. One of the greatest parts of his life was being a grandfather to Carson Fjeld, Aiden Fjeld, Skylie Tetrault, Abel Tetrault, Avery Raska, Breckan Tetrault, and Afton Tetrault. He is survived by his siblings and their spouses: Melany Lizakowaki; Laurie Back; Terry and Gaytha Tetrault; Brian and Valerie Tetrault; Lisa and Mark Sonterre; Missy and Rick Gehl; Martin and Mincha Tetrault; and Tracy and Wayne Rolph, along with his extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Ellen Tetrault, and his brothers, Greg Tetrault and Tim Tetrault.
Michael came from a family where there was never a shortage of people, stories, memories, or personalities. His passing leaves an absence that will be felt differently by everyone who knew him, but the memories created throughout his 66 years will remain with the people who loved him. More than anything, Michael's story will continue through his children, grandchildren, siblings, family, and everyone who carries a memory of him forward.
