Muriel Kathleen Lund

Muriel Kathleen Lund, age 86, formerly of Sauk Rapids, MN, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2020, at the home of her daughter in Baxter, MN, where she had been residing since February 2017.  Muriel was born November 9, 1933, in Aitkin, MN, to Gene and Lennea Hogan.  She graduated from Aitkin High School in 1951.  After graduation she attended the University of Minnesota in Duluth.  When Muriel returned to Aitkin she worked as the secretary to the Superintendent of schools.  It was there that she met the man who swept her off her feet and became the love of her life, Dale Lund.  He proposed to her at the family cottage on Spirit Lake and were married on August 23, 1958, at the United Methodist Church in Aitkin.  They lived in the Fargo area until 1962 at which time they moved to Rochester, MN.  In 1976 they moved to Sauk Rapids, MN.  Muriel was a devoted mother to their five daughters.  While raising her children she also taught piano lessons and provided day care in her home.Muriel had a gentle spirit, was selfless and kind, a great listener, and a godly prayer warrior.  She enjoyed reading, writing letters, playing Skip-Bo with her grandchildren, and most of all listening to her children laugh.

Muriel is survived by her daughters: Julie (David) Sundeen of Gladstone, MO; Christie (Bryan) Jelinski of Baxter, MN; Laurie (John) McIntire of Anderson, IN; Kathie of Sauk Rapids, MN; Sherrie (Jeff) Lahr of St. Cloud, MN. Brother: David (Elaine) Hogan of Richland, WA. Sisters-in-law: Mary Jo Lund of Two Harbors, MN; Nancy (Dale) Berntsen of Hermantown, MN; Deb Rider of Duluth, MN; Bonnie Lund of Hartford, WI;  as well as 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Dale Lund; mother, Lennea Hogan; father, Gene Hogan; infant brother, Kenneth Hogan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 11:00AM at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.  The family will greet relatives and friends starting at 10:00AM until time of service.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Aitkin.
