Otto Harmon Obituary

Otto Phillip "Pete" Harmon passed away at home on February 19, 2024, following a courageous battle with lung cancer and COPD with the comfort of family by his side.

He was born on September 13, 1944, in Frederic, Wisconsin to Otto J. and Hazel S. (Simonson) Harmon.  He was baptized, confirmed, and was married to his high school sweetheart, Carol Long at Trinity Lutheran Church in Danbury WI.  He graduated from Webster High School in 1962 and later from Ellsworth Community College with a degree in marketing.  He worked many jobs in his lifetime beginning with work for his father driving log trucks to Superior when he was too young to be driving.  He was a machinist, a school bus driver, a store owner, and had many jobs in sales of various products and services throughout the years.  His all-time favorite job was being a courier for Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin.  He retired from there after 10 years of service.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking pontoon rides, cookouts, walking his dog, and many conversations on the phone, by text, or via Zoom.  He was preceded in death by parents Otto and Hazel, daughter Barb, sister Iola, infant brother Walter and niece Patsy.  

Otto is survived by his wife Carol of over 61 years;  daughters and sons-in-law: Donna (Lee) Liebergen and Jerri (Carl) Dixon;  son and daughter-in-law: Rob (Liz) Harmon;  grandchildren: Jake, Corissa, Gary, Billy, Emily, Alyssa, and Ozzy;  great grandchildren: Jordan, X'Zander, Leah, Ethan, Unity, and Katana;  His dog Lulu;  niece and nephew: Penny and Russell and cousins Laverne, Christine, and Pat;  Special friends: Andy and Pam, Ron, Tim and many others who he frequently stayed in touch with.

Memorial Service will be 2pm – Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Aitkin.  Deacon Pam Johnson will be the officiant.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Refreshments and fellowship to follow at Blackrock Terrace Apartments 315 1st Avenue S.W. in Aitkin.  Burial will be at a later date at the Swiss Cemetery in Danbury, WI.
