Patricia Louise Tucker Daine was born February 28, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to John Tucker and Beulah Miller Tucker. Pat entered the University of Iowa with one of the highest scores & IQ, for the entrance exam that year, and graduated with honors. She was a very popular, energetic and talkative Coed, and well liked in her sorority Alpha Delta Pi. While attending school there and living at the Sorority House, she met the love of her life, John Manton Daine, Jr. who was working as a Hasher ( Dishwasher) at the Alpha Delta Pi House. They were married on July 27, 1952, in Iowa City, IA, for a wonderful 61 years until John's passing in April, 2014. John had just been inducted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War and together they were stationed in Salzburg, Austria, where their son, Matt was born. After returning to the United States and Iowa City in 1954, their daughter Deborah was born. John and Pat were the owners of Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City, and sold it in 1990 after John retired. Pat worked for many years at the University of Iowa Dental Branch and was instrumental in designing the new ( at that time) Dental Branch Building, retiring as Head Secretary of the Administrative Division in 1995. They moved to their "Happy Place" on Big Sandy Lake in McGregor, MN where they were active in the Lions/Lioness Clubs, Big Sandy Lake Association, and thoroughly enjoyed life, while fishing, golfing, and spending time with friends and family.
Pat enjoyed her Iowa Hawkeye's, Minnesota Vikings, numerous other football teams, and watching golf, along with her knitting, crosswords and jigsaw puzzle expertise! Her outgoing and fun loving nature, penchant for the correct English language, laughter and caring spirit has touched so many lives and she will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to thank the staff of CareFree Living for their excellent care while Pat lived there, where she was happy and felt secure. We would also like to thank our friends Tim & Heidi McElroy, Patty Fisher, Scott & Lou Stinson and Randy & Chris Barnaby for their care and concern throughout the years.
