Phillip "Skip" Kangas, age 71, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026.

Born in Alexandria, MN, Skip was the son of the late Phillip Henry Kangas and Nettie Eva (Yoemans) Peerson. He built a life and family in St. Paul Park, devoting 30 years of service to 3M in Cottage Grove. Prior to 3M, he was an Iron Worker with Local 512.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne (Sathra) Kangas;  children: Tammy Norgard (Josh), Shelly Wellnitz (Dave), and Kurt Kangas (Alyssa); six grandchildren: Ariella, Braydan, Chloe, Rhys, Carly, and Kinsley; step-mother Rose Kangas; sisters: Teresa Schmidt, Laura Wilson and Darlene Burger; Brothers: Corey Peerson and Brice Magnuson and many other special family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws John and Lorraine Sathra, brother Jeffery and sisters Sharon Magnuson and Louanne Reynolds.

Skip loved the outdoors- hunting and fishing were his favorite ways to spend a day.  His morning cribbage games with mom, and time with his children and grandkids meant everything to him.  His dog Sienna was never far from his side. He lived life with a genuine love for adventure, family and friends, and the world around him.
