Phillip Reeves lived with passion, strength, humor, and generosity. A proud son of southern Michigan, he graduated from Berkley High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Phil served courageously with the 101st Airborne Division and 58th Infantry, completing three combat tours in Vietnam. Exposure to Agent Orange led to long-term health issues and his final battle with pancreatic cancer.
Despite these challenges, Phil made the most of his life. He worked in many fields—security, carpentry, manufacturing, conservation and transportation. He approached each role with dedication. He set a goal of earning a black belt, he earned 5, including creating his own defense program TAIGA RYU
Phil married the love of his life, Madonna Michelin , and became the proud and loving father of—Steven, Thomas, and William—in McGregor, Minnesota. He was a tireless advocate for veterans, helping many navigate the VA system. He also gave his time generously to the Boy Scouts and VFW, where he held several leadership roles.
His hobbies of woodworking, gardening, caring for animals, hunting, and fishing continued to grow as did his family, with daughters-in-law Holly and Piyanuch, and grandchildren Brent , Wyatt, Raehana , and Laya.
Phil was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him. In his final wishes, he asked that we be happy for him—he is now at peace and free from pain.
