Phillip Dennis Woodroffe, 84, of Aitkin, Minnesota, passed away on April 29, 2026, at Aitkin Health Services in Aitkin.
Phil was born on November 17, 1941, in Liberal, Kansas, to Verne and Mildred Smalley. He was raised by his mother, Mildred, and stepfather, Richard Woodroffe.
Phil is survived by his wife, Patty Woodroffe, with whom he had just celebrated 52 years of marriage on April 21, their son Jesse (Laura), and his sons Tony (Lisa), Kelly (Susie), and Guy (Barb). He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Woodroffe.
Phil served in the United States Navy as a photographer, beginning what became a lifelong pursuit. Over the years, he worked as a landscape, portrait, and wedding photographer, and also as a photographer for the Moose Lake Arrowhead Leader newspaper. He enjoyed the outdoors and found meaning in capturing the people and places around him through photography.
Phil will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
