Ramona (Hoyt) Floe Lage Obituary
Ramona Leone (Hoyt) Floe Lage, 86, formerly of McGregor, MN, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024, at her residence in Cloquet, MN.
Ramona was born in Eau Galle, WI, to Claude and Irene (Moots) Hoyt on March 31, 1938. She attended school in Eau Claire, WI. She married Easton Gary Floe in 1956. From this union, they had three children: Joan, Karen, and Wayne.
Ramona raised her family on Lake Minnewawa. She loved her time on the water and shared that love of water with her kids, which is a big part of their lives. She hand-picked wild rice, and was known for making delicious pickled fish. In the winter, she enjoyed snowmobiling, which is another hobby she shared her excitement for with her family. They continue to make that a big part of their Minnesota winters and will fondly remember her in doing so.
Ramona had many wonderful talents and showcased them in her jobs throughout the years. She worked at the DAC for several years, sewed canopies and worked in the office for Wayne’s business, Floe International, and lovingly provided live-in home care for disabled adults.
Ramona loved playing games, especially Bingo, Scrabble, Aggravation, 13, Checkers and 500. If you spent time together, she likely shared her love of games and competitive streak with you, and no doubt, a lot of fun. She has sewn numerous quilts out of love, and always had freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren to enjoy.
Ramona is preceded in death by her father and mother; two infant brothers; brothers: LaVern “Scout” Hoyt, Donald “Pete” Hoyt, and Gary Hoyt, Wilbur Hoyt; sisters, Norma Jean Rathbun, Lou Ann Hyde, Patricia “Pat” Klenk, and Sandra “Sandy” Rosse.
Ramona is survived by her children: Joan (Rich) Mizer of Pine City, Karen Floe of Cloquet, and Wayne (Janelle) Floe of McGregor and Winter Haven, FL; grandchildren: Angela (Scott) Kemen of Pine City, Cory Eken of McGregor, Holly Hennen of Olivia, Glenn Gibson of Cloquet, Natalie (Joel) Reiter of Darwin, Sara (Jordan) Moser of McGrath, Heidi (Conrad) Oehrlein of Pine City, Holly (Paul) Soderbeck of North Branch, Easton Floe and Ramsi Floe of McGregor and Winter Haven, FL; brother-in-law Joe Rosse of Isanti; sisters-in-law Carol Hoyt of Lake City, and Marge Hoyt of Wahkon; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Casket bearers are Wayne Floe, Easton Floe, Cory Eken, Glenn Gibson, Joel Reiter, and Tysen Reiter.
The family of Ramona wishes to extend our sincere thanks to family and friends who have provided support and comfort during this difficult time.
All are invited to join in remembering Ramona and the light, joy, and love she brought into our lives. A graveside service and interment will be at the Pine Needle Cemetery at the Log Church in McGregor, MN on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. at the Big Sandy Beaver in McGregor. Meal and beverages to follow beginning at 5:00 p.m.
