Richard Dennis Connoy, 78, of Aitkin, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. He was born September 6, 1941 in Minneapolis to Francis and Helen (Tomczyk) Connoy. Richard graduated in 1959 from North High School in Minneapolis. Richard was united in marriage to Mary Scholl on November 26, 1960 in Minneapolis. He was a veteran of The United States Navy and was employed by IDS/Ameriprise Corporation for 40 years. Richard was a member of The American Legion and enjoyed fishing, technology and especially time with family and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Mary Frances.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Mary Connoy; sons, Michael (Penny) Connoy and Daniel Connoy; daughter, Kathleen Connoy; grandchild, Amanda Connoy (Trent) Weber; great grandchildren, Alice and Felix Weber; brothers, Thomas (June) Connoy and Philip (Carol) Connoy; sister, Helen (Stan) Burg; as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Saturday, November 2 from 1-6 p.m. at the Anoka American Legion Post #102, 400 Main Street West, Anoka, MN 55303. A private interment will be held at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.givemn.org/story/richardconnoy.
