Richard Charles Oreskovich

Richard Charles Oreskovich, known as Charlie and Chuck to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on February 27th, 2020 surrounded by family. Born on May 17th, 1948 in Crosby, MN, Chuck held the record for the high jump at Crosby Ironton High School for 10 years, clearing 5 feet, 10 inches. After high school, Chuck enlisted in the United States Army, where he served from 1968 to 1971, first as a Stock Control and Accounting Specialist in the 509th Infantry, then as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.  Upon returning from his time in the service, Chuck worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as a Station Attendant, where he would often be seen in the company of his pet skunk, Stinker. Chuck was a Jack of All Trades, working as a Realtor, an Electronics Salesman, and a Union Carpenter specializing in Commercial Construction.  He shared memories of picking agates on the roof of the Radisson in Duluth as it was being built. As if that wasn’t enough excitement, Chuck returned to school in his fifties and studied Robotics Engineering.   Friends and family of Chuck will tell you that he was a nurturer of animals, an environmental advocate, and a kind and generous soul. He was a great dancer, an excellent singer, and a talented artist and photographer. He loved to travel and learn about the history of the areas he visited, taking pictures of old headstones in small town cemeteries, as well as dilapidated barns he encountered throughout his journey. He was an avid reader, a deep thinker, and a lover of traveling the open road on his Harley. He was a proud member of the Sons of Viches MC.

Chuck is preceded in death by his mother and father Charlene and Victor Oreskovich, nephew David Mark Karnowski, and granddaughter Annika Noel. He is survived by his daughter Natasha Oreskovich (Shannon Smith) of Woodbury; Four older sisters: Judith (David) Karnowski of New Brighton, Marlys (David) Hicks of Ironton, Mardell Blom of Crosby, Sandy (John) Freeman of Deerwood; two younger brothers: Kim Oreskovich of Trommald and Victor Oreskovich of Brainerd; numerous favorite nieces, nephews, and cousins;

and his godson, Alex Oreskovich.

The Funeral Service will be 12:00P.M. – Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood.  Visitation will begin at 10:00A.M. Saturday at the church.  A light lunch will be provided after the service.
