Robert Ihde Obituary

Robert (Bob) Ihde

Bob would like to let you know that his work here is done. He received a phone call on the 9th day of September 2025 at 06:27. You know a sort of offer you can't refuse and he won't be returning. This new role grants him a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing, reading, and doing outdoor activities until his heart is content, with no pain. Laughter, good old fashioned banter, and love are guaranteed. The food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. Bob was born January 25, 1947 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Walt and Jen Ihde. He graduated from Mediapolis Iowa High School in 1965. Bob was united in marriage to Linda Rasmussen on July 5, 1975 at First Baptist Church in Swansboro, NC. Bob spent 22 years in the Marine Corps. After he retired from the Corps, Bob took a job as a Defense Contractor in Washington DC. He then took a job driving truck over the road. Bob and Linda moved to their cabin on Ripple Lake April 5, 2005. Bob left instructions for his son James Ihde, his wife Meredith, daughter Laura Rasmussen, granddaughter Gabi Ihde, and grandson Ben Ihde to celebrate his life and be happy, and never forget "Strength and growth only come through continuous efforts and struggles." Bob was preceded in death by his parents Walt and Jen Ihde, brother Pat Ihde, sister Paulette Rounds, and wife Linda Ihde. Bob is survived by his son, daughter, and grandchildren and many loving friends. Bob had a huge heart, touched many lives, and made a difference. He will be missed. It's OK to show your grief but in honor of Bob please keep your black in the closet and dress colorfully. Bob's celebration of life will occur in the summer of 2026 at Diamond Lake Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the VFW and American Legion.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home & Cremation Services  www.srtfuneral.com
