Robert John Laucamp, 79, of McGregor passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 9th 2025.
Robert was born on February 19, 1946 in southern Iowa. Over the course of his life he built a reputation as a hardworking and determined man who cared deeply for the people around him. He attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth and later went on to own and operate both a construction company and a local bar and cafe where he formed countless friendships and connections in the community. He also served his community for ten years as mayor of Tamarack which he greatly enjoyed.
Robert was a loving father to his three daughters, Trish, Kate and Leah who meant the world to him. He also deeply loved his six grandsons, granddaughter and great-grandson. He was known for his kind heart, compassionate nature and understanding spirit. Those who knew him remember him as someone who truly listened, offered support without judgement, and made people feel welcome.
In his free time, Robert enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, relaxing with a good movie and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. One of the things people cherished about him was his ability to tell stories about his past adventures of which there were many.
Above all else, Robert will be remembered for the love he gave to his family and friends and for his kind forgiving nature.. His stories, laughter and sometimes feisty spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor, celebrate and remember Robert.,
