Ruth Hannah Jacobson, 97 of Aitkin died Saturday, February 9, 2020 at Aicota Health care Center in Aitkin. She was born September 24, 1922 in Radisson, Wisconsin to Abraham C. and Helena (Bargen) Esau. She graduated from Mt. Lake High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Hubert V. Jacobson on September 3, 1947 in Aitkin. She taught Sunday School and Youth Fellowship at Fleming United Methodist Church. She reported on the "Gun Lake News" for the Aitkin Independent Age Newspaper. For many years family and friends would gather on Saturday’s at the Jacobson home for her community pancake breakfasts. She was an unbelievable cook who could make something out of nothing and had the gift of hospitality. She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert on September 27, 2015, five brothers and sisters and her parents.
Ruth is survived by her children: Mike and Vicky Jacobson of Aitkin, Carolyn and Roger Macy of Brainerd, and Alan Jacobson of Aitkin;
6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother Dan Esau of Roanoke, Virginia; and many other special relatives and friends. Ruth’s family would like to thank the staff at Aicota Health Care Center for the care she received.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held later in the spring. Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Aitkin assisted with arrangements.
