Sharon Rae Gustin

Sharon Rae Gustin, 85, of Aitkin, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025.  She was born on March 1, 1939, in Aitkin Township to Thomas A. and Marion E. (Swanson) Gustin. Sharon attended the Long Lake and Thor schools, and graduated from Aitkin High School in 1957. She helped with the family turkey farm in Aitkin County before moving to Minneapolis with her sister Carol, where she attended business school. Sharon worked in the Claims Department of Allstate Insurance for over 30 years and called Bloomington home before retiring and returning to Aitkin to live near family.

Sharon attended St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a member of the Riverwood Health Center Auxiliary.  Sharon enjoyed decorating for holidays, especially Christmas, and treasured spending time with her family, young and old alike. You could often find Sharon playing cards, creating beautiful long-stitch artwork, embroidering, reading, and growing her collection of Boyd’s Bears. She enjoyed a cold Diet Pepsi, and savored a warm dish of wild rice hotdish. 

Memories of Sharon live on with her sister Lavonne Randa, brother-in-law Michael Ahonen, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews, who will always adore her. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Stanley and sister-in-law Joyce Gustin, sister Carol Ahonen, and brother-in-law Eugene Randa.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Saron Cemetery to celebrate Sharon’s life, renew acquaintances, and to simply spend time together; just as Sharon would want.
