Shirley Nina (Nelson) Anderson 90, of Aitkin, MN passed away on Thursday April 3, 2025, at Golden Horizons of Aitkin.
Shirley was born in Braham, MN on March 8, 1935, to Frank Arthur and Nina Catherine (Peterson) Nelson. Shirley attended a two-room country school through eighth grade. She graduated from Braham High School in 1953. Shirley was united in marriage to Theodore Anderson on September 1, 1956, in Maple Ridge, MN. Shirley worked several jobs while raising a family. She was most proud of her time as a rural letter carrier for the Hamel, MN Post Office. Shirley loved to dance, travel, and spend time at the cabin with her family and friends.
Shirley was proceeded in death by her husband Ted, her parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dolores Bengtson (Carl), Marian Fruechte (Orville), and Ardis Niemi (Ray) and son-in-law Michael Grego.
Shirley is survived by her children, Craig (Mary Jo), Chris (Theresa), and Michele Grego; grandchildren, Nick, Katie (Jeremy), Beth (Brandon), Jackie, Carrie, and Angelina; great grandchildren, Harper, and Haizley; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday May 3rd at 11 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 36696 320th Street, Nordland Township, Aitkin, MN 56431. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. Graveside service immediately follows.
Shirley’s family will host lunch at the Forty Club Banquet Center 960 2nd Street Northwest Aitkin, MN 56431 after the Graveside Service.
