Simon "Sy" Monteon, Jr. Obituary

Simon “Sy” R. Monteon, Jr. quietly passed away in his sleep after an 8-year long battle with liver cancer on December 29, 2025 at Carefree Living surrounded by his daughters. Sy was born on June 2,1938 in Minneapolis the son of Simon and Sophie (Routley) Monteon, Sr. He graduated from North High School in Minneapolis.  He went on to become a Plumber with Local Union #15 out of Minneapolis and then became a Plumbing inspector for the city of Minneapolis.

His family and friends will remember him as a hard worker and a Man who loved to tease and have a good time. He Loved music of all kinds, Dancing, Fishing, Hunting, playing guitar, singing  and Trap shooting. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.  He was Preceded in death by his parents Simon Monteon, Sr. and Sophie Monteon and his sister Marion (Micky) Weed. 

Sy is survived by, Daughters: Vicki (Steve) Peterson of McGregor, Mona Magee of Redwood City, CA., SB Sheri (Jim) VanAsch of Coon Rapids and Sharleen Monteon of Minneapolis.  8 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Sister Marie Marino and Brother David (Pam) Monteon; many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including significant other Jessica Dewey of Brainerd and Tango.

Special Thank You to The Staff at Carefree Living of Mc Gregor and The Moose Lake St. Croix Hospice Team. We would have been lost without you.

A Celebration of life will be Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 1pm to 5pm at The Fireside Resturaunt in McGregor.
