Vernon "Sonny" George Flowers

Vernon “Sonny” George Flowers, 82, of Aitkin, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2020 in Aicota Health Care Center, Aitkin.  He was born January 17, 1938 in St. Peter to George and Marian (Ely) Flowers. Vernon served in the United States Army from July 1960 to July 1962 serving most of that time in Korea.

   Vernon was united in marriage to Lila Lingroth on August 4, 1962 at Glory Baptist Church, Aitkin.  Vernon was a member of Glory Baptist Church, Aitkin American Legion Post #86, Aitkin Color Guard, Persian Gulf Support Group and was Fire Warden for Nordland Township for 46 years.  Vernon enjoyed farming, hunting and loved to visit with people.  He especially loved time spent with his family.  Sonny will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Vernon is preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Keith Rogers, Charles Pearson and Daniel Lingroth.

Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Lila Flowers of Aitkin; children, Jeffrey Flowers of Aitkin, Bryan Flowers of Aitkin, Lisa (Rich) Rosier of Crosby, Steven (Fawnice) Flowers of Aiktin and Mark Flowers of Aitkin; grandchildren, Michael (Amber), Tyler, Tashina, Beau and Wyatt; great grandchildren, Izzy, Mason, James, Coraline and Steven; siblings, Verna Rogers, Beulah (Kenneth) Westvig, Rollie (Ardis) Flowers, Judy Pearson and Gene (Vada) Flowers; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be Saturday, August 15 at 11 AM in Glory Baptist Church, Aitkin with Pastor Chris Meirose officiating.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Full military honors will be performed by Aitkin American Legion Post #86 and Aitkin V.F.W.
