Virginia M. Bradford, 96, of Aitkin, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 in Aicota Health Care Center, Aitkin. She was born February 24, 1926 in Dayton, Ohio. The daughter to Emery and Catherine (Williams) Hall. Virginia grew up and attended schools in Ohio. Virginia was united in marriage to Kenneth S. Bradford on April 19, 1946 in Ohio. They moved to Ripple Lake, near Aitkin in 1953, living there until 1996 when they moved to Aitkin. She worked at the Ben Franklin Store and Gambles in Aitkin. She then worked at Bares Bootery for 8 years and Aitkin Community Hospital and Extended Health Care for 16 years. Virginia also cared for people in their home. Virginia was a member of West Side Church, Aitkin.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Kenneth; her parents; 3 sons; 1 step-son; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Virginia is survived by 2 daughters, Marsha Benson of Aitkin and Lori (Rolly) Nelson of Aitkin; 1 step-son, Gary (Janet) Bradford of Aitkin; 1 step-daughter, Janet Ogden of London, Ohio; grandchildren, John, Lance, Scott, Vince, Allison, and Bradford “Brad”; step-grandchildren, Teresa, Steve, Doug, Greg, Robert, Sheri, Lisa, Thomas, Glen and Cindy; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and step-great great grandchildren; nephews, Dan (Jan) Koch and Jim Hall; special friends, Pearl Jensen, Jan Gardener and Jan Tibbetts; other relatives and friends.
Services will be Saturday, January 14 at 11 AM in Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin with Pastor Dallas Smith officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Diamond Lake Cemetery, Farm Island Township. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Aitkin Food Shelf where Virginia volunteered for many years.
