Wanda Blakesley Obituary

Wanda Lou Blakesley age 66 of Aitkin died suddenly at home on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at her home.  She was born to Bill and Marlene (Feltman) Monse in a snow storm on March 26th 1957.  Wanda was born, raised and remained a lifelong Aitkin area resident.  Wanda was united in marriage to Lynn L. Blakesley on Feb 9 1979 in Aitkin.  Together they made their home and farm, where they raised their 3 children: Scott, Misty and Jeff.  She was very proud of her home and farm, her little ford tractor, her little red truck, and most of all her 3 children and 8 grandchildren.  She enjoyed being at home hearing the sounds of the farm in the air, seeing a tractor leave the yard for the field, hearing the sound of a cow mooing in the distance, seeing a calf take its first awkward steps, and being up before the rooster crowed in the morning.  She loved raising baby ducks and chickens.  Her true joy was seeing and hearing the grandkids around the farm yard having fun.  Wanda retired from her job as the “lunch lady” at Rippleside Elementary School after the 2020 school year ended.  While working at school she was especially proud of serving the “Farm to School” lunches to the children. She was a life long member of the Aitkin VFW Post 1727 Auxiliary and Aitkin American Legion Post 86 Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her father William Monse.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 45 years Lynn; 3 children and their families: Scott Blakesley and Cassie Anderson and their 3 children: Charli Ann Blakesley, Waylon Anderson, and Cheyenne Blakesley; Misty and Tim Sturm and their 2 children: Gavin Sturm and Garrett Sturm; Jeff and Colby Blakesley and their 3 children: John Blakesley, Olivia Blakesley and Waylon Blakesley; Her mother Marlene Monse; 4 brothers and sister in-law: Bill and Cindy, Kevin, Kent and Jerry Monse; 1 sister Karen Monse;  Many nieces, nephews, other special relatives and friends.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.  Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley, Little Falls.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Aitkin.  To leave a message of condolence go to www.srtfuneral.com
