William “Bill” R. Christensen, age 70 of Aitkin died Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin.
Bill was born March 4, 1949 in Aitkin the son of William V. and Joan (Carlson) Christensen. He grew up and attended schools in Aitkin graduating from the Aitkin High School in 1967. He moved to Duluth and lived there for a couple of years working for the Superwood Plant. He returned to Aitkin and married Mary Wikelius in 1971. They made their home in Aitkin and Bill worked outdoors and enjoyed doing maple syrup, wild ricing, hunting especially deer hunting. He also enjoyed selling onions and brats for the Masons. He married Patricia “Patsy” Otte on August 10, 2001 in Aitkin. He was a member of the Aitkin Masonic Mystic Lodge 213, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited and the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association.
He is survived by his wife Patsy Christensen of Aitkin; Children: Andrea (Dustin) Bloom of Aitkin, Adrienne Christensen of Garrison, Willy Christensen of Aitkin, Rick (Jess) Yozamp of Redmond, Oregon, Steve Yozamp of Kimball, Mn.; Grandchildren: Tyler Bloom, Libby Yozamp, Ryder Yozamp, Cooper Yozamp, Jager Yozamp, Axel Oren-Christensen; Siblings: Jim (Cindy) Christensen of Aitkin, Julie Nordean of Aitkin, Brian (Rhonda Staum) Christensen of Aitkin; Mother: Joan Christensen of Aitkin; Brothers in law: Dan (Delores) Otte of Blaine, Mn., Jim (Diana) Otte of Delano, Mn., Bob (Sharon) Otte of Weslaco, Tx., and Bill (Kim) Otte of Zimmerman, Mn; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father William V. Christensen, his first wife Mary Christensen in 1991, daughter Annette Christensen and brother in law Dale Nordean.
A Masonic Service will be held Friday, February 28, 2020 at 1 PM from the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Service with a visitation starting at 11 AM until the 1 PM service time. Arrangements are with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Aitkin.
